Business Services Reorganization
Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce a reorganization that supports our commitment to collaboration and customer service. Business Services has tasked several of its departments to focus on streamlining and improving processes. Contracts & Procurement has been combined with Accounts Payable. Accounts Receivable has been combined with Student Accounts within Financial Services. In addition, we have renamed the department Environmental Health & Safety to Risk Management and Safety Services. This department has been redesigned to cover Risk Management, Business Continuity, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety and Emergency Management.
We believe these changes support the 2010 Cabinet for Institutional Change Report which recommended several comprehensive reforms to help make the university more effective and responsive. Two of the five key areas of change were the adoption of a continuous process of improvement and the creation of a collegial, respectful, and responsive community. These changes also support the fundamental premise of the CSU Synergy Project to “engage in transformational change by challenging long-standing historic practices, eliminating duplications of effort and administrative silos, and looking at possibilities to share services and expertise.” Finally, we think these changes address the concerns we heard from the campus constituency regarding Health & Safety. With our expanded Risk Management and Safety Services department we have combined several units into one team dedicated to working with our campus departments.
We look forward to serving the needs of the campus more efficiently and effectively with this new organizational structure. Please let me know if you have any additional questions or comments.
