Y.E.S. Fall Day of Service

September 20, 2024

Youth Educational Services (Y.E.S.) invites students, staff, alumni, and community members to come together for its annual Fall Day of Service to contribute to Potawot Community Food Garden’s annual “Day of Caring.” Taking place on Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. located at 3500 Ribeiro Lane in Arcata, CA. Transportation will be provided for students and staff to and from campus who REGISTER to volunteer.

Fall Day of Service is an opportunity to roll up your sleeves and make a positive impact in the local community through hands-on work. Volunteers will assist with a variety of outdoor projects which may include harvesting strawberries, weeding, tending to the greenhouse, caring for the orchard, and much more. Outside projects only (rain or shine).

Potawot Community Food Garden is part of United Indian Health Services (UIHS), and Y.E.S. volunteers directly support UIHS’s mission by ensuring that Native American families around Humboldt County have access to healthy, locally grown food. With the collective efforts of community and student participants, the Fall Day of Service typically contributes 150-300 collective volunteer hours in just one day! This annual tradition is a testament to Cal Poly Humboldt's commitment to sustainability, community engagement, and service learning. Take this opportunity to make a meaningful difference in your community.
