Welcoming our new students to HSU

Humboldt Orientation Program (HOP) is just around the corner. We are expecting 1,375 incoming freshmen to attend HOP from Wednesday, August 21 through Friday, August 23. Their family members and guests will also be on campus and participating in the Family & Guest Program.Orientation is the first time that many students and families set foot on our campus. It is our opportunity to ensure that their HSU experience begins in a manner that will set them up for success. Please join me in welcoming the newest members of the HSU community when you see them and help them to feel confident in their choice of Humboldt State. Be prepared to assist and support them find their way to offices, or to share information with them if you see them across campus.Important Dates:Monday, August 19: expect to see new students and families exploring campusTuesday, August 20: official move-in day for the residence halls. The JGC parking lot and Mill Street will be closed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on this day to facilitate incoming traffic. A map of the closures is available at humboldt.edu/adminaffairs/Downloads/campusmap.pdf. Expect heavier traffic on streets and around campus. Testing is also underway at 8:30am for a couple hundred of our new studentsWednesday, August 21: HOP begins at 8am in the UC and Art QuadsFriday, August 23: HOP ends at 5pmMonday, August 26: HSU Classes beginPlease note that due to the number of people expected at HOP, parking may be extremely limited on campus.
