Welcome to the New Finance Director, Accountant, & Budget Analyst

Join Administrative Affairs in welcoming our three newest employees:

Brian Mitchell, CPA as the new Director of Financial Services (start date pending). Brian is a graduate of California State University, Sacramento with a Bachelor of Science/Business Administration in Accountancy. He is a Certified Public Accountant. He also serves as the President of the Board of Trustees for the McKinleyville Union School District.  He leaves his current position as Vice President of Finance for Security National Properties, where he developed processes to create multi-year financial projections and budgets; developed and managed regulatory risk management/internal audit departments; provided data/fiscal analysis and created financial pro formas. Prior to that, he was an Audit Manager for David L. Moonie & Co., LLP where he was responsible for oversight and coordination of multiple audit engagements and personnel, including updating audit procedures and financial statement. He was also a Senior Accountant at Deloitte & Touche, LLP where he was responsible for planning and performing the audit of financial statements in accordance with SEC, GAAP, GAAS, PCAOB and professional standards.

 

Brian Frasher, CPA as the new Accountant II for Financial Services/Accounting, starting on 6/30/14. He is a graduate of Humboldt State University with a Business Administration degree with emphasis on Accounting. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.  He leaves his current position as staff Accountant for Aalfs, Evans & Co., LLP where he prepared financial statements and lead audit teams. He has knowledge in GAAP and OCBOA accounting principles and has strong technical skills (advanced skills with Microsoft Office and administering small business networks and use of automated accounting systems).

René Smith as the new Budget Analyst. She graduated from HSU in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Accounting Concentration. Prior to accepting a position with the Budget Office as a Budget Analyst, she worked as an accountant at the Sun Valley Group for two years.
