VOLLEYBALL’S SENIOR DAY THIS SATURDAY
Humboldt State’s finished its four-match road trip with two losses in the Valley. HSU lost in three sets at Chico State with Lindsey McLaughlin leading the way with six kills while Malia Coyle added four. The ‘Jacks finished their road trip with a three-set loss at Stanislaus State despite McLaughlin’s 13 kills, 12 digs performance while Hannah Cantrell had five total blocks. Humboldt State (3-16, 2-14 CCAA) will recognize its five seniors prior to the match on Saturday in Hannah Cantrell, Carla Crespo, Lenox Loving, Jasmine McNeal and Christa Pilgrim.
MEN’S SOCCER FINISHES SEASON 10-5-2 AND 4-5-2 IN THE CCAA
Humboldt State men’s soccer team finished its 2021 season in heartbreaking fashion with a 1-0 loss on Thursday in Chico. The ‘Jacks finished with a 10-5-2 overall record and a 4-5-2 CCAA record. Their ten wins was the most since 2006 when the Lumberjacks finished 11-6-3-. Marco Silveira finished his career at HSU with 15 goals and 24 assists. His 24 assists are second all-time at HSU while is 15 goals ties him for 11th. Adrian Gallardo’s first season as the Lumberjacks’ season was stellar as his .850 goals against average is first all-time on HSU’s single season list and his seven shutouts was second.
WOMEN’S SOCCER FINISHES 4-10-4 AND 1-8-2 IN THE CCAA
The Lumberjack women’s soccer team finished the 2021 season with a 4-10-4 overall record and a 1-8-2 record in the CCAA. Of those ten losses, five were just by one goal. HSU lost its regular season finale 4-1 at Chico State on Thursday. Four of their matches, Humboldt State didn’t allow a goal this season. Clara Lenihan and Kendal Spencer led HSU with their four goals.
GRANADOS AND PORTILLO LEAD THE WAY FOR THE ‘JACKS AT THE NCAA REGIONALS
Rosa Granados and Elliott Portillo paced the Lumberjack cross country teams at the 2021 NCAA Division II West Regionals on Saturday. Granados ran a 30th place time of 22:23.5 in the 6K race to lead HSU to a 15th place team finish. Portillo ran a 48th place time of 32:12.8 in the 10K race to lead the Lumberjacks to a 17th place team finish.
BOTH LUMBERJACK TEAMS OPEN THEIR SEASON AGAINST WESTERN WASHINGTON
Humboldt State women’s and men’s basketball teams will open up their 2021-22 regular season on Friday, November 12 when the ‘Jacks face Western Washington. The Lumberjack women will face Western Washington in Seattle, Wash., at 1pm while HSU’s men will take on the Vikings in Carson, Calif., at 5pm. The ‘Jacks women will also face Seattle Pacific on Saturday, November 13 at 1pm while the Lumberjack men will take on Simon Fraser on Saturday at 5p in Carson.
WOMEN’S ROWING TO BEGIN 21-22 THIS SATURDAY IN THE BAY AREA
Humboldt State women’s rowing team, under the guidance of head coach Matt Weise, will participate in the Head of the Lagoon Regatta this Saturday, November 13 in Foster City, California, to begin the Lumberjacks’ 2021-22 season. The rest of the Lumberjacks’ schedule will be announced sometime in December.

A pair of Humboldt State cross country runners in Rosa Granados and Elliott Portillo are this week’s Humboldt State Lumberjack Student-Athletes of the Week.
Granados ran a time of 22:23.5 to finish in 30th place at the NCAA Division II West Regionals 6K race. She led the ‘Jacks to a 15th place team finish.
Portillo finished in 48th place in the 10K NCAA Division II West Regionals with a time of 32;12.8. The senior runner paced HSU to a 17th place team finish.
