CCAA BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT COMING TO LUMBERJACK ARENA, MARCH 3-5
Cal Poly Humboldt will host the 2021-22 CCAA Basketball Championship Tournament (presented by Under Amour) this weekend, March 3-5, in Lumberjack Arena. The men’s and women’s quarterfinals are set for March 3. Both the men’s and women’s semi-finals will be March 4 with the championship games set for March 5. SOFTBALL TO HOST NO. 19 CHICO STATE IN FOUR-GAME SERIES, MARCH 4-5
Cal Poly Humboldt will host No. 19 Chico State in the Lumberjacks’ home opener of the 2022 season. The four-game series will begin with a noon starting doubleheader on Friday, March 4. The series will conclude this Saturday, March 5 with an 11am starting doubleheader. The ‘Jacks are 7-9 overall and 3-5 in the CCAA after being swept by Cal State East Bay in Hayward. Four players are hitting .300 or better for Humboldt in JoAna Mullins (.417), Micaela Harris (.396), Izzy Starr (.358) and Katelyn Dendas (.300). Starr leads the Jacks with her 20 runs batted in, three home runs and is tied with Dendas each with four doubles. Harris has scored a team leading 20 runs while recording a team high five triples and 11 stolen baes. Karen Di Dio leads the pitching staff with her 4.20 earned run average, four wins and 23 strikeouts.
ALLEN AND KASBERGER PLACE SECOND AT CHICO MULTI-EVENT CLASSIC
The Lumberjack duo of Travis Allen and Grace Kasberger each placed second at the Chico Multi-Event Classic this Wednesday and Thursday at Chico State. Allen had personal best points of 5156 in the decathlon. He also had personal best times/marks, in the 100-meter dash, high jump, 400-meter dash, 110-meter hurdles a 1500-meter run. Kasberger moved into tenth place on Humboldt’s all-time top ten list with her personal best 3986 in the heptathlon. She also had personal best times/marks in the javelin, 100-meter hurdles, shot put, 200-meter and long jump. Both the Humboldt men’s and women’s track and field teams will return to competition this Friday-Saturday, March 4-5 at the Kim Duyst Invitational on the campus of Stanislaus State University in Turlock, Calif.
HUMBOLDT CREW BEGINS ON MARCH 12
Cal Poly Humboldt women's crew team will begin their season on March 12 at the Sacramento State Invitational. This will be the first of six regattas that the 'Jacks will participate in prior to the GNAC Rowing Championships on May 14. Humboldt will host its regatta on March 26 at the Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center. At the Lumberjacks home regatta, they will be hosting an alumni event as more information will be posted in the coming weeks.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL FINISHES SEASON AT 7-16
Cal Poly Humboldt women’s basketball team finished the 2021-22 season with a 7-16 overall record including a 6-13 CCAA record. The Jacks finished in tenth place. They went 0-2 in their final home stand starting with a 54-45 loss to Cal State Los Angeles. Sharon Roldan had a season high 20 points to lead the way for Humboldt while Madison Parry had 11 points and 13 rebounds. Humboldt lost on Senior Nigh 74-49 to No. 21 Cal State San Marcos. Parry paced the Jacks with 14 points and 13 rebounds while Citlaly Davalos chipped in 13 points.
MEN’S BASKETBALL FINISHES 2021-22 WITH A 11-15 OVERALL RECORD
The Jacks’ men’s basketball team finished the 2021-22 season with a 11-15 overall record including a 5-15 CCAA record which they placed 11th in the conference. This weekend, Humboldt went 1-1 in its season ending home stand. Thursday, the Jacks defeated Cal State Los Angeles 88-71 behind Jaden Edwards’ 31-points and 13-rebounds. AJ Sims chipped in 17 points while Thomas Melonja added 15 points for Humboldt and Amari Green dished out a career high 13 assists. Humboldt lost 75-47 on Senior Night to No. 19 Cal State San Marcos. The trio of Amari Green, AJ Sims and Cam Timmons each scored 10 points to lead the way for Humboldt.

ALLEN AND KASBERGER ARE THIS WEEK'S HUMBOLDT STATE LUMBERJACK STUDENT-ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
This week's Cal Poly Humboldt Lumberjacks' Student-Athletes are a pair of Lumberjack multi-athletes in Travis Allen and Grace Kasberger.
Allen took second overall at the Chico Multi-Event Classic with a lifetime personal best in the decathlon, 5156 points. He tallied personal best in the 100-meter dash, high jump, 400-meter dash, 110-meter hurdles, 1500-meter run, and the decathlon.
Kasberger bested the collegiate field by 700 points totaling 3986 points a 561-point improvement over her previous life time best. She posted personal bests in the 100m hurdles, shot put, 200-meter, long jump, javelin, and the heptathlon over the two-day event in Chico, Calif.
