 BIG WEEKEND AHEAD FOR THE ‘JACK BASKETBALL TEAMS IN THE LUMBERJACK ARENA

Both of the Lumberjack men’s and women’s basketball will host a pair of CCAA doubleheaders this Thursday and Saturday, January 27 and 29 in Lumberjack Arena.  On Thursday the 27th, Humboldt will entertain Chico State. Then on Saturday, the ‘Jacks will host Stanislaus State.  Tip-offs for the women’s games are set for 5:30pm and for the men’s games are set for 7:30pm.

 

LUMBERJACKS FINISH 2-0 ON THE ROAD

Humboldt men’s basketball team went 2-0 this past weekend with a pair of conference road wins.  The ‘Jacks started the weekend with a 67-63 win at Cal State East Bay.  Jaden Edwards paced the ‘Jacks with 17 points and 11 rebounds.  AJ Sims had 13 points off the bench while Cam Timmons scored 11 points and Amari Green chipped in 10 points.  Humboldt finished the weekend with a 66-45 win at Cal State Dominguez Hills behind Green’s 14 points while Edwards scored 13 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. The ‘Jacks are now 10-6 overall and 4-6 in the CCAA.

 

‘JACKS DROP TWO ON THE ROAD

The Lumberjack women’s basketball team went 0-2 in their road trip this weekend to fall to 4-9 overall and 3-6 in the CCAA.  Humboldt started the weekend with a 76-55 loss at first place Cal State East Bay.  Julia Iman paced Humboldt with 17 points while Madison Parry added 11 points and nine rebounds.  The ‘Jacks finished the weekend with a 70-60 loss at Cal State Dominguez Hills. Parry paced Humboldt with 19 points while Jadence Clifton had a career day with 14 points, seven assists and seven rebounds.  Iman chipped in 11 points for the ‘Jacks.

The 36th Annual Celebrity Sports Auction and Dinner is set for Saturday, April 9 at Blue Lake Casino in Blue Lake, California.  More information about this year’s auction will be released next week on www.hsujacks.com.

 

SPRING SPORTS’ SEASONS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER

The start of the four Lumberjack spring sport teams’ seasons (softball, women’s crew and men’s and women’s outdoor track and field) is right around the corner. The ‘Jack softball team will begin their season on the road on February 2 for a non-conference doubleheader in Hayward against Holy Names University.  Their home opener is a CCAA doubleheader against Chico State on March 4.  Both of the Lumberjack men’s and women’s track and field teams will begin their season hosting the Green and Gold on February 12.  Humboldt women’s crew will begin their season on March 12 in Sacramento at the Sacramento State Regatta.  The ‘Jacks home regatta is set for March 26 at the Humboldt Aquatic Center.

EDWARDS AND PARRY ARE THIS WEEK’S HUMBOLDT STATE LUMBERJACK STUDENT-ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

This week’s Humboldt State Lumberjacks’ Student-Athletes are a pair of Lumberjack basketball players in Jaden Edwards and Madison Parry.

 Edwards recorded back to back doubles-doubles for his seventh and eighth of the season. The junior transfer averaged 15.0 points, 11.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists.  He started the weekend with a 17-point, 11-rebound performance in the Lumberjacks' 67-63 win at Cal State East Bay.  Edwards finished the weekend with a 13-point, 12-rebound performance in the 'Jacks 66-45 win at CSUDH.

 Parry averaged 15.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocked shots in the Lumberjacks' two games on the road this weekend.  She shot 50% from the field while recording a steal and dishing out an assist. She started the weekend with a 11-point, nine-rebound performance in Humboldt's 76-55 loss at Cal State East Bay. The freshman forward finished the weekend with a 19-point, five-rebound performance in the Lumberjacks' 70-60 loss at CSUDH.
