SPRING SPORTS JUST AROUND THE CORNER

The start of the Humboldt State Lumberjacks’ Spring Sports season is just around the corner.  The Lumberjack softball team will begin their season in Oakland for a non-conference doubleheader against Holy Names on February 2. Their home opener is set for March 4 against Chico State.  Humboldt State men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams will commence their season on February 12 hosting the Green and Gold Invite.  HSU’s women’s crew team will begin their spring in Sacramento at the Sacramento State Invite on March 12.  The Lumberjacks’ home regatta is set for March 26. 

 

LUMBERJACK WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM ENTERS WEEKEND 4-7

Humboldt State women’s basketball team enters this weekend with a 4-7 overall record and a 3-4 CCAA record.  The ‘Jacks are averaging 63.6 points per game while giving up 64.6 points per game.  Three players are averaging double digits in scoring in Madison Parry (15.2 ppg), Julia Iman (15.1 ppg) and Kaz Parks (11.6 ppg).  Iman leads the team with her 44% shooting from the field, 9.9 rebounding average, 33 assists and 19 steals. Parks has made a team leading 28 three-point field goals while Parry has connected on a team high 78.4% of her attempts from the line.

 

HUMBOLDT STATE MEN’S BASKETBALL ENTERS THIS WEEK 8-6

The Lumberjack men’s basketball team is 8-6 and 2-6 after their two games against Cal State San Bernardino and Cal Poly Pomona.  Humboldt State is averaging 71.2 points per game while giving up 71.8 points per game.  Jaden Edwards leads the team with his 16.9 scoring, 9.5 rebounding average and 18 steals.  Cam Timmons is shooting a team best 54.7% from the field while blocking a team leading 12 shots.  Amari Green leads HSU with his 80.8% shooting from the free throw line and has dished out a team leading 38 assists.

‘JACKS RANKED NATIONAL IN STATISTICS

Jaden Edwards, Julia Iman and Kaz Parks are mentioned in this week’s NCAA Division II statistical report.  Edwards is 22nd in nation with his six double-doubles, 26th with his 9.5 rebounding average and 31st with his 124 total rebounds. Iman is 32nd with her 9.9 rebounds per game average and 49th with her five double-doubles.  Parks is 24th with her 2.80 three-point field goals made per game average.

PARKS AND PARRY ARE THIS WEEK’S HUMBOLDT STATE LUMBERJACK STUDENT-ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

This week’s Humboldt State Lumberjacks’ Student-Athletes are a pair of Lumberjack women’s basketball players in Kaz Parks and Madison Parry.

 

Parks averaged 14.5 points per game in HSU’s two games last weekend. She made seven three’s while dished out four assists and recorded three steals.  She scored a season high 21 points in HSU’s heartbreaking double overtime loss to Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday.  Against Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday, Parks scored eight points.

 

Parry averaged 17.5 points per game while she shot 46.4% from the field and 50% from three-point land. In HSU’s loss to Cal State San Bernardino, Parry scored 16 points and had seven rebounds. Then against Cal Poly Pomona, Parry scored 19 points and grabbed 9 rebounds.
