 JACKS IMPROVE TO 7-2 AFTER 2-0 WEEK

Humboldt State men’s basketball team went 2-0 this past weekend with an 85-68 win over Simpson and a 66-53 win at Stanislaus State.  The ‘Jacks started the week with a 17-point win over Simpson at home on Thursday evening.  Jaden Edwards paced HSU with 41-points and 10-rebounds while AJ Sims chipped in 13 points.  Humboldt State won its second straight game with a 13-point win at Stanislaus State on Saturday behind Bryce Mitchell’s 19 points.  Edwards added 13 points and 17 rebounds with Amari Green chipping in 12 points.  HSU is now 7-2 overall and 1-2 in the CCAA.

 HSU SUFFERS FIRST CONFERENCE LOSS

After opening CCAA play 2-0, Humboldt State women’s basketball team lost 51-46 at Stanislaus State to fall to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in the CCAA. Madison Parry scored 14 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead the way for the ‘Jacks.  Julia Iman added 11 points and 10 rebounds for Humboldt State.

 LUMBERJACKS EARN MORE POST-SEASON HONORS

Three members of the Humboldt State men’s soccer team were named either to the United Soccer Coaches or the D2CCA All-West Region Teams in Marco Silveira, Adrian Gallardo and Dylan Tovani.  Silveira was a United Soccer Coaches All-West Region First Team honoree as well as being named to the D2CCA All-West Region Second Team.  Gallardo and Tovani each were named to the United Soccer Coaches All-West Region Third Team. Earlier this semester, six ‘Jacks were named to the All-CCAA Team.  Silveira was a First Team selection while Tovani and Gallardo were Second Team honorees.  Joining the trio were Christian Gonzalez, Devin Hauenstein and Motoki Sato who were named to the Honorable Mention Team.

 ANOTHER NATIONAL CHAMPION FOR THE CCAA

Cal State Los Angeles men’s soccer team became the 155th national champion in the history of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).  The Golden Eagles defeated Charleston (WV) 1-0 in the championship game.  The last team to capture a national championship for the CCAA was in 2019 when Cal State San Bernardino’s volleyball team captured the national title.

 PARRY AND EDWARDS ARE THIS WEEK’S HUMBOLDT STATE LUMBERJACK STUDENT-ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

This week’s Humboldt State Lumberjacks’ Student-Athletes are a pair of Lumberjack basketball players in Madison Parry and Jaden Edwards.

 Parry recorded her second double-double of the season in HSU’s 51-46 loss at Stanislaus State on Saturday.  She scored 14 points and grabbed a season high 14 rebounds.  Parry went six-for-13 from the field and connected on two of her three attempts from the free throw line while blocking one shot.

 Edwards recorded back to back double-doubles in HSU’s two wins this past week.  He  averaged 26.0 points and 13.5 rebounds per game while shooting 56.1% from the field. The junior transfer dished out four assists, blocked a shot and recorded a steals while averaging 30.4 minutes per game.
