 JACKS OFF TO 2-0 START IN CCAA PLAY

Humboldt State women’s basketball team started its 2021-22 CCAA season with two home victories this past weekend at Lumberjack Arena.  On Thursday night, HSU defeated SF State 58-56 behind Julia Iman’s 21 points, 7 rebounds and four steal performance.  Madison Parry chipped in 18 points for the ‘Jacks.  Humboldt State finished its week with a 65-59 win over Cal State Monterey Bay to improve to 3-3 overall and 2-0 in the CCAA.  Iman recorded her second double-double of the season with 24 points and 11 rebounds while dishing out six assists.  Kaz Parks added 14 points while Ashley Peralta chipped in 10 points. 

 HSU DROPS TWO OVERTIME THRILLERS

The Lumberjack men’s basketball team started its 2021-22 season with two overtime thrillers at home this past weekend.  HSU started the week with an 84-80 overtime loss to SF State on Thursday evening.  Will Johnson paced HSU with 20 points and nine assists.  Jaden Edwards recorded his third double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds while AJ Sims added 16 points off the bench.  Thomas Melonja also scored 11 points for the ‘Jacks. HSU fell to 5-2 overall and 0-2 in the CCAA after a 78-74 loss to CSU Monterey Bay.  Edwards recorded his second straight double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds.  Johnson scored 19 points and Amari Green chipped in 10 points.

 IMAN AND EDWARDS ARE THIS WEEK’S HUMBOLDT STATE LUMBERJACK STUDENT-ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

This week’s Humboldt State Lumberjacks’ Student-Athletes are a pair of Lumberjack basketball players in Julia Iman and Jaden Edwards.

 Iman averaged 22.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 3.0 steals and 1.5 blocked shots in leading HSU to a 2-0 weekend.  She shot 53.8% from the field connecting on 21 of her 39 attempts from the field.  She started the weekend with 21 points and seven rebounds in HSU’s win over SF State.  Iman came back with her second double-double of the season with 24 points and 11 rebounds in the Lumberjacks’ 65-59 win over CSU Monterey Bay.

 Edwards averaged 15.0 points, 11.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.5 assists in HSU’s 0-2 weekend.  The junior transfer started the weekend with his third double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds while recording two steals and dishing out two assists in the Lumberjacks’ 84-80 overtime loss to SF State.  He finished the weekend with 19 points and 11 rebounds in HSU’s 77-74 overtime loss to CSU Monterey Bay.
