 LUMBERJACK SOCCER TEAMS START OFF 2021 THIS WEEKEND

Both of the Humboldt State Lumberjack men’s and women’s soccer teams will begin their 2021 seasons this Labor Day weekend.  The Lumberjack men’s soccer team will be in Salt Lake City, Utah, for a pair of non-conference games this Thursday and Saturday, September 2 and 4.  Humboldt State women’s soccer team will be at home at College Creek Field this Friday and Sunday, September 3 and 5.

 MEN’S SOCCER IN UTAH

Humboldt State men’s soccer team will travel to Salt Lake City, Utah, to face Westminster (Utah) and Northwest Nazarene this Thursday and Saturday, September 2 and 4.  Thursday’s match will start at 7:30pm (MT) while Saturday’s match will begin at 4:30pm (MT).  The Lumberjacks will have their home opener on September 17 at 3pm against Simpson University

 WOMEN’S SOCCER TO HOST TWO REGION CONTESTS THIS WEEKEND

The Lumberjack women’s soccer team will be host two NCAA Division II West Region non-conference opponents this Labor Day Weekend.  They will host Dominican this Friday, September 3 at 2pm.  On Sunday, September 4 at 1pm, Humboldt State will entertain Hawai’i Pacific.

 VOLLEYBALL AND CROSS COUNTRY TO BEGIN ON SEPTEMBER 10 AND 18 RESPECTIVELY

Humboldt State’s volleyball team will commence their 2021 season in Rohnert Park, Calif., for four non-conference matches in the Seawolf/Gator Classic on the campus of Sonoma State University.  The Lumberjacks will face Chico State (10am) and Dominican (5pm) on Friday, September 10.  The next day, HSU will face Holy Names (10am) and Academy of Art (5pm) on Saturday, September 11.

 The Lumberjack men’s and women’s cross country team will begin their season hosting the Humboldt State Invitational on September 18 at Baywood Golf & Country Club in Arcata, Calif.  The invitational is scheduled to begin at 8:30am. 

ESTRADA-RODRIGUEZ AND SILVEIRA FIRST RECIPIENTS OF THE SEA SCHOLARSHIP

The first recipients of the Humboldt State Lumberjacks Social Equity & Accountability (SEA) scholarship have been selected. Lumberjack rower Tania Estrada-Rodriguez and men's soccer player Marco Silveira both stood out with their strong essays and commitment to improving their communities.  This scholarship was initially funded by a generous donation from the Rotary Club of Arcata Sunrise.

 JOIN THE LUMBERJACK LEGION

Memberships for the Lumberjack Legion are now open by clicking here.  The Lumberjack Legion was founded in 2015 when it became clear that there was a desire to have a unified supporters’ group for our soccer programs.  Legion members can be seen out in full force at both home and away matches, easily recognized by their official apparel and scarfs.

 Membership includes the following:  general admission season pass (sport specific), limited edition scarf, car window decal, legion shirt and team schedule (sport specific).  More information on how basketball season ticket holders can join is coming soon.

 The Junior Jacks Kids Club is the best way for our youngest (13 years and younger) Lumberjack fans to experience the fun and excitement of Humboldt State Athletics.

 Membership costs are only $20 per member.  The membership includes Junior Jacks T-shirt, free general admission to all regular season home games for all sports (with the purchase of an adult ticket and when they wear their lanyard with their membership card), lanyard with membership card and birthday card from Lucky.

 CLASS OF 2020/2021 HUMBOLDT STATE ATHLETICS’ HALL OF FAME CEREMONY SET FOR OCTOBER 8

The Humboldt State University Department of Athletics’ Hall of Fame Ceremony is set for Friday, October 8 at the Sapphire Palace Event Center at the Blue Casino & Hotel in Blue Lake, Calif.  The evening will begin at 6pm with social hour and to continue at 7pm with dinner and the ceremony.

 HSU will be inducting 13 Lumberjacks and one team into the Hall of Fame.  The Class of 2020 will be represented by Laura Champ, Heather Johnston, Scott Peters, Lisa Petty, Lyndon Rowells and Chrissy Stalf.  The Class of 2021 inductees are Nicholas Bawden, Bridget Berg, Dan Collen, Katie Harris, Staci Self, Anetra Torres, Zack Weinberger and the 1976 Men’s Cross Country Team.  For more information on the Humboldt State Athletics’ Hall of Fame, go to https://hsujacks.com/honors/humboldt-state-athletics-hall-of-fame.
