Vacation Accruals End-of-Year Reminder

November 16, 2021

This version provides a reformatted list of maximum vacation accrual hours.

As the end of the calendar year approaches, we encourage you to look at your vacation balance and consider requesting approval to take time off before December 31 so that you do not lose any well-earned vacation time.

It is important to remember that any vacation time balance that exceeds your maximum allowable accrual is generally not permitted to carry over beyond the end of this calendar year (see table below for maximums). You can find your vacation leave balance by accessing “My Profile” on the myHumboldt website or through PeopleSoft Self Service. Please keep in mind that your personal holiday must be used by December 31. Requests for time off are to be directed to your appropriate administrator.

We also want to remind you that although our campus will be closed the Friday after Thanksgiving, that day is not a paid holiday. You are encouraged to take that Friday off and use your accrued vacation or personal holiday to cover your time; however, employees may choose to work during the campus closure. If you choose to work the Friday after Thanksgiving, you need to inform your appropriate administrator and it is possible that you may be assigned to an alternative work location and/or assignment for energy savings reasons.
