Using the New Gmail Smart Reply

October 17, 2018

The latest Gmail upgrade will arrive on everyone's desktops next week if it hasn't already. One of the new features is Smart Reply, which uses machine learning to offer you suggested responses to emails.

As with auto-correct, it's advisable to take a little extra care with this powerful new tool, at least until you have it trained well enough for you to trust its suggestions. If you'd prefer to turn off Smart Reply altogether, you can do this by clicking on the Gear icon at the top right of the Gmail interface and selecting Settings. On the General tab, scroll down to Smart Reply, where you can turn this function on and off.
