Transition for Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

July 1, 2022

Dear Colleagues,

Dr. Elavie Ndura, who has served since January 2020 as Cal Poly Humboldt’s Associate Vice President for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Campus Diversity Officer will be leaving her position effective July 31  to join the University of Washington Tacoma as their new Vice Chancellor for Equity and Inclusion on August 1.

On behalf of the University and Humboldt community, I wish to thank Dr. Ndura for her service as she has worked tirelessly to further Cal Poly Humboldt’s commitment to inclusive excellence by promoting a campus culture that minimizes bias and recognizes and addresses systemic inequities. She has been a leader and collaborator in many areas including with Equity Arcata, the polytechnic transformation efforts, and creating a welcoming environment for new faculty and staff at Cal Poly Humboldt.

Information on filling the vacancy on an interim basis for the Associate Vice President for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion/Campus Diversity Officer will be provided soon. Dr. Ndura will continue to provide support, when needed, to ensure a smooth and successful transition.

Dr. Ndura expressed her deepest gratitude to the community: "I want to thank the staff of the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, and to faculty, students, and staff who supported and actively engaged in my inclusive excellence vision,” she said. “You all made my work more meaningful and helped to elevate my DEI leadership. My departure is not the end of our collaborative quest to nurture a caring and welcoming community at Cal Poly Humboldt and beyond. I look forward to continued partnerships."

Sincerely,

Jenn Capps
