On March 19, 2021, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed Senate Bill (SB) 95, which mandates that employers provide employees with supplemental paid sick leave (SPSL) for various COVID-related absences in addition to paid time off benefits employees already receive.  

Period of use:  January 1, 2021 – September 30, 2021

Hours: 80 hours for full time employees and prorated for less than full time

Eligibility:  All employees (except rehired annuitants and work study students)

If you need to request the use of SPSL hours, please send an email to your supervisor indicating the hours, dates, and reason for use (including relationship if caring for a family member).  When reporting this time in Absence Management, please choose the FFCRA/CPAL option from the drop-down menu and put SPSL in the comments section.
