Return to Standard Grading Policies for Fall 2021

October 8, 2021
Last academic year the HSU University Senate approved extended flexibility for students on course grading modes (letter graded or Credit/No Credit). Please remind students that standard deadlines and grading policies are back in effect as of Fall 2021. These include:

A student choosing the credit/no credit option must do so by the eighth week of classes. The deadline is Monday October 18, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. (PST); otherwise, the student will receive a letter grade.

Undergraduate students may take one optional Credit/No Credit (CR/NC) course per semester.  Major courses may not be taken on an optional CR/NC basis. No more than 24 semester units of CR/NC (mandatory and/or optional) taken at Humboldt State will count toward a bachelor’s degree (excluding courses taken CR/NC in Spring 2020, Fall 2020 and Spring 2021)

Graduate students can choose optional CR/ NC only for courses not required by their approved program.

Encourage students to to work  with their advisor on this decision taking into account academic standing and financial aid.  For some student groups, such as veteran students, student athletes, and students considering graduate or professional school, using the CR/NC grade option is not advisable.
