Respect for Local Wildlife

August 30, 2022

We are fortunate to have a unique campus that is inhabitated not just by us, but by a variety wild creatures. Over the last few days, there has been a black-tailed deer (that's our local species) fawn seen around the quad and campus housing. Please give this animal - and all our animal co-inhabitants - space and respect. Fawns hide and bed down while their female parent is off foraging, and when we disturb them we can make it hard for them to nurse, by moving them around or scaring off their lactating mothers.

The students and faculty of the Wildlife Department want everyone to share in our enjoyment of local wildlife, but please do so from a respectful distance, so that they remain wild and are here for future generations to enjoy. Thank you.
