Required Training for Employees Who Work with Hazardous Materials/Waste

September 19, 2019

Based on this year’s Health and Safety audit report (link), every employee that deals with Hazardous Materials or Waste will be required to participate on HAZMAT and HAZWASTE training.

The Environmental Health & Safety and Human Resources departments have partnered to identify and provide the appropriate content and frequency of the training based on employees’ position requirements.  The training will be administered and/or deployed using CSU Learn, our Learning Management System or in person training as appropriate for the content.

It will be the departments’ responsibility to identify the employees who work with hazardous materials or waste.  The departments should maintain and provide an up-to-date list to Human Resources of such employees.  EH&S and HR will maintain training compliance reports that will be sent to supervisors and department heads on a regular basis.

We’ll be reaching out in the near future with instructions for the next steps.

Thank you,

Environmental Health & Safety Department
