Requests for Proposals: 2020-21 Graduation Initiative 2025 One-time Funding

December 10, 2019

On behalf of President Jackson, we are pleased to announce that Humboldt State University is issuing a campus-wide Request for Proposals (RFP) for next year’s 2020-21 Graduation Initiative 2025 funding. GI 2025 funds are allocated to each CSU campus by the Chancellor's Office based on legislative action each year. The funds are designed to support each campus in developing and sustaining programs or initiatives that increase student success. More information on GI 2025 and the details of the RFP process (with links to resource documents) can be found below. This RFP begins our process of allocation for next academic year with an initial focus on one-time investments to support both new proposals and continuing initiatives that show promise through assessment. Please stay tuned for more information on how to engage with the process of allocation for base funding to which we will turn next.

Thanks to you, the campus community, HSU continues to invest Graduation Initiative funds in ways that are central to our collective student retention and graduation success work. These investments include the hiring of additional tenure-track faculty, building and enhancing first-year student learning communities, expanding our academic advising and peer mentor capacities, providing support for student basic needs, and generating meaningful student employment opportunities. These investments align with the six pillars of the CSU Graduation Initiative.

As was the case last year, the RFP will be guided by our Integrated, Assessment, Planning and Budget (IAPB) process. The IAPB is based on the tenets of strategic budgeting and requires clear linkage to the goals, priorities, and mission of HSU and the GI 2025 initiative. Each successful proposal will include an assessment component that assures we are achieving the desired outcomes to positively impact student success at HSU.

This year’s call reflects a commitment to continuous improvement of the IAPB and RFP process based on last year’s experiences. Thank you to the members of the Student Success Alliance and the IAPB committee for their thoughtful contributions to the improvement of the processes. Changes this year include an expanded timeline and the Major Budget Unit or College as the initiating unit (providing opportunities for coordination with and among departments). In order to support this coordination we will be holding in early January (TBD) two technical assistance/ Q & A sessions for MBU/College leadership. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to reach out to us with questions via budgetplanning@humboldt.edu.

Thank you all for your continued commitment to our students and for your collaborative approach to achievement of our collective goals. We look forward to your submissions.

Sincerely,

Lisa Bond-Maupin
