Reminder: COVID-19 Supplemental Paid Sick Leave (SPSL) Available for Absences Due to COVID-19

April 27, 2022

As we make our way through the COVID-19 pandemic, the safety and well-being of our campus community remain top priority.  Human Resources would like to remind employees about Senate Bill 114, which provides Supplemental Paid Sick Leave (SPSL) up to 80 hours (prorated based on full time equivalency) and is available effective January 1, 2022 for employees unable to work (or work remotely) due to COVID-19-related reasons.  The CSU has expanded SB 114 by removing the daily pay maximums and extending the availability of use to December 31, 2022 for most employees.

All employees are eligible for SPSL (except for work-study student employees), with up to 40 hours being available for various COVID-related reasons, and an additional 40 hours being available if the employee or a family member contracts COVID-19.

Please review the information posted on the Leaves & Disability webpage for more information about eligibility, qualifying reasons for use, and how to request/report SPSL. (Auxiliary employees should reach out their respective organizations for more information about how to request SPSL)
