Reminder to Conserve Water on Wednesday

September 24, 2019

The following is a message from the City of Arcata reminding Arcata residents to conserve water on Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 8 a.m to 8 p.m.:

As you know, Humboldt Bay Municipal Water District has been replacing valves, which has already caused a shutdown of Arcata’s water supply on two previous occasions.

Arcata residents will continue to have water service supplied by the City’s water reserves, and we're encouraging residents to conserve water to maintain an adequate water supply and to ensure fire protection reserves during the shutdown period.

While the past valve replacement work was taking place, Humboldt Bay Municipal Water District would have been able to provide water to Arcata in the case of an extreme emergency. This is not the case tomorrow.  While their work is being completed, there will be no way them to supply Arcata with emergency water if it becomes necessary.
