Raccoons on Campus

June 21, 2018

University employees have been noticing an increase of raccoon presence on campus. The masked bandits seem to be very comfortable traveling through campus with no concern about humans being nearby. Please keep the following in mind:

Per our Animals on Campus Policy (P 17-09), "Wild or Feral Animals that are not a risk and do not represent a hazard, cause property damage, or create a nuisance, and that do not require human intervention, will be allowed to inhabit the campus grounds. Prohibited human intervention includes, but is not limited to feeding, building of shelters, and injection of medicine."

Keep a healthy distance from all wild animals on our campus and do not interact with them. If a wild animal is causing property damage or creating a nuisance, please contact UPD at 826-5555.

If you have any general questions regarding our Animals on Campus Policy, please contact Risk Management and Safety Services at 826-3305.
