Procard Purchases of Hazardous Materials and Inventory Requirements

August 28, 2019

According the Health and Safety (HS) audit conducted by the Chancellors Office Audit and Advisory services between April and May 2019, the operational and administrative controls for HS as of May 17, 2019, were unlikely to provide reasonable assurance that risks were being managed and objectives were met.

The purpose of this announcement is to remind the campus community of the requirement to follow campus policy regarding purchasing hazardous materials by reconciling all chemicals purchased by procard with the word haz in the reference field and then adding those material to the campus hazmat database. See EH&S inventory website linked below for more information on what needs to be inventoried or contact Sabrina Zink at x 3302.

The procard policy states:
Radioactive/Hazardous Materials: Radioactive/Hazardous Materials must cite "Haz" in Reference field on procurement card reconciliation, as well as follow all chemical inventory protocol.

Attached is HSU’s chemical purchasing procedure and below you will find links to EH&S’ website outlining these requirements.
