Printing Services, Recycled Paper Requirement & University Brand

The Procurement team, in partnership with Marketing & Communications (MarCom), would like to remind the campus of important policies and procedures regarding printing services, paper purchases, and the University’s brand guidelines.

Printing Services

Per the CSU Contracts & Procurement Policy, printing, binding, stapling, and other related service needs of a campus are often available from on-campus providers such as central reprographics or self-supporting copy centers. Whenever such needs can be accommodated locally, these service providers shall be considered first. At Cal Poly Humboldt, all printed materials and printing services must be submitted to Marketing & Communications for review and approval prior to purchase and/or production. 

Purchasing Paper

In support of Humboldt’s commitment to environmental responsibility, a paper policy was established in 2019, requiring all University departments to exclusively purchase chlorine-free, 100 percent post-consumer waste recycled office paper and/or paper made from 100 percent agricultural-waste fiber. This applies to letter-size general-use white paper used in copiers and printers.

Use of Name/Logo/Brand

Any item that is branded, displays a logo, or uses the Cal Poly Humboldt name in any form must receive prior approval from MarCom. This requirement applies to all print, digital, promotional, advertising, and merchandise materials to ensure brand consistency, accuracy, and compliance with University standards. No production or distribution may occur until MarCom approval has been granted. In addition, all purchases of these products must be from a licensed vendor, unless otherwise approved by MarCom.
