Postma, Sadaunykas Named Humboldt State’s Recipients of the CCAA Charnofsky Award
ARCATA, Calif.--- Humboldt State University women’s soccer student-athlete Sabine Postma and men’s basketball student-athlete Gabrys Sadaunykas are the Lumberjacks’ recipients of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Dr. Hal Charnofsky Memorial Award.
The Dr. Hal Charnofsky Memorial Award is given annually to two student-athletes at each Conference institution who participate in a Conference sport. Recipients are selected by their respective athletics department members in consultation with the institution's faculty athletics representative.
The Charnofsky Award recognizes student-athletes who have distinguished themselves in the classroom and in their sport.
The award is named after the late Dr. Hal Charnofsky, a long-time faculty athletics representative from Cal State Dominguez Hills, who passed away in December 2002.
Earlier this year, Postma was named the recipient of the 2020 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women's Soccer Championship Scholar-Athlete. Postma was named to the CCAA Fall Academic Honor Roll. Last week, the three-year letter-winner was named the 2020-21 Humboldt State Outstanding Student Award for Excellence in Intercollegiate Athletics. During her career, Postma played in 49 matches and earned All-CCAA honors in 2017.
Sadaunykas is a two-year letter-winner for the Lumberjacks. This past season, the senior averaged 7.9 points and 6.4 rebounds per game and had two double-doubles including a 15-point, 10-rebound effort in HSU’s season finale 73-65 win at Southern Oregon. He was named the 2019-20 HSU Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year while being named to a D2ADA Achievement Award recipient and to the CCAA All-Academic Team.
