Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, known as OLLI is moving to its new campus home—the Cal Poly Humboldt Library. The move marks a significant milestone in strengthening lifelong learning at the University's academic heart and deepening connections among learners of all generations. 

OLLI’s office will move from SBS to the second floor of the Library in Library 203 this month. OLLI classes will continue as scheduled, and future classes will also continue in the new location of the College of Extended Education at the Plaza.

To celebrate OLLI’s new chapter, OLLI members, the campus community, and the general public are invited to the Fall OLLI Open House at the Library on Saturday, September 12, 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. The free event is an opportunity to visit the new OLLI space, explore upcoming classes, meet Library Dean Cyril Oberlander and Interim Coordinator Mairead Sardina, and learn more about Library resources.

OLLI members are also invited to attend “Learn Your Library,” an OLLI tour of the Library hosted by Dean Oberlander, on Friday, July 24, 10 a.m. – noon. The tour is free for pre-registered members. 

OLLI is moving into a more visible and connected space, and is a learning-centered home that will continue to strengthen collaboration across campus, deepen belonging, and support intellectually engaging lifelong learning for adult learners and the broader Humboldt community. OLLI’s new and exciting chapter will be a strong home for lifelong learners age 50 and better, and will expand opportunities for learning, belonging, and intergenerational connection. By housing OLLI within the Library, Cal Poly Humboldt reinforces the Library’s vital role as a learning center for adult independent learners and a welcoming space for curiosity, connection, and discovery for the campus and local community. OLLI members will continue (even more so) to benefit from access to the Library’s research resources, unique collections, learning spaces, campus expertise, and programs that support intellectually engaging and welcoming lifelong learning opportunities.

The move also aligns with the Library’s Lifelong Learning Lounge @ the Library, L4Humboldt, a peer-to-peer knowledge-sharing initiative. The L4Humboldt summer series is open to OLLI members (along with campus and broader community members), with this year’s theme, “New Orbits: Exploring Connections,” offering opportunities to build community and explore new ideas.

Established in 2005 with support from the Bernard Osher Foundation, OLLI at Cal Poly Humboldt offers non-credit short courses, lectures, discussions, outdoor experiences, and community-building opportunities for lifelong learners.
