Notice of Nondiscrimination

September 6, 2023

Hello,

We welcome you to the beginning of this new academic year with some important information.

Title IX is a landmark federal civil rights that prohibits sex discrimination in education. To ensure compliance with Title IX and other laws, Cal Poly Humboldt complies with the CSU Nondiscrimination policy which states that our campus community (students and employees), guests and visitors have the right to be free from sexual discrimination, sexual harassment, intimate partner violence, and/or stalking. It is also expected that our campus community conduct themselves in a manner that does not infringe upon the rights of others.

The safety of our campus community, along with the wellbeing of our employees and students, is our top priority. Prevention efforts to support that goal include annual training (per Attachment B of the CSU Nondiscrimination Policy) to promote the awareness of these policies, along with reporting options, and resources for support, for every currently enrolled student and all Cal Poly Humboldt staff, faculty and administrators.

You will receive an email notice of the course that has been assigned to you, along with information about how to access the course.

  • Students must complete the “Sexual Violence Prevention” course. New students are assigned a full course and returning students are required to take a  refresher course. Students will receive the notification the first week of classes and course completion is due within six weeks of the date of that email.
  • Staff and faculty must complete a “Gender Equity and Title IX'' course. New employees will be assigned the course and notified upon hiring and permanent employees are notified when it must be completed annually (generally on their hiring anniversary date). The email will include the deadline for completing the course..
  • Students who are also working on campus are required to complete both courses

Please take a moment to review the following Notice of Non-Discrimination on the Basis of Gender or Sex, which provides contact information for Cal Poly Humboldt’s Title IX Coordinator and Discrimination, Harassment & Retaliation Prevention Administrator. Should you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out.

Any person may report sex discrimination, including sexual harassment (whether or not the person reporting is the person alleged to have experienced the conduct that could constitute sex discrimination or sexual harassment), in-person, by mail, by telephone, or by electronic mail, using the contact information listed below for the Title IX Coordinator, or by any other means that results in the Title IX Coordinator receiving the person’s verbal or written report.
