New Hire Onboarding Process

With the onset of another academic year, The Department of Human Resources would like to take a moment to remind all of our supervisors of these important steps when hiring employees to work for your department:

  • Once an employment offer has been accepted, the department must complete the New Hire Form.  This form must be completed for all employees regardless of previous employment at the University and should be completed at least two weeks prior to the start of work
  • Employees who have not previously worked for the University should complete the Candidate Information Form.  This form initiates creation of a POI, Empl ID and HSU email.
  • All newly hired part-time, full-time, temporary and student employees, must complete and sign an Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I-9).  As required by federal law, employees must complete Section 1 of this form on or before their start date, and provide acceptable original and unexpired supporting documents, which establish identity and authorization for employment, to The Department of Human Resources no later than their 3rd day of employment. 
  • Employees should not begin working until all appropriate employment materials have been completed.
  • Weekly I-9 Meetings will be held on Wednesdays at 11am, unless circumstances require that the meeting be rescheduled.  Please communicate the importance of attending this meeting to all new hires.  Meetings fill up fast, so please keep in mind that employees are not guaranteed an invitation without adequate notice.
