Moodle Issues Update

April 13, 2016

What we know:

For reasons we have yet to conclusively identify, Moodle is taking a long time to write to and read from the server. This is caused by data "traffic jams" coming from multiple sources, affecting multiple services, and sometimes even causing the Moodle server to crash.

What we're doing:

Because Moodle is a top priority campus service, we will be isolating the Moodle server during our regularly scheduled maintenance window this Sunday, April 17th, between 8am and 2pm so we can add more resources. This will enable the server to respond more quickly, which in turn will enable ITS to investigate further and get to the bottom of the problem.

Contact the Moodle office at x3633 if you have questions.
