Migration to Google Drive

November 16, 2018

Effective January 2019, HSU’s standard storage service is Google Drive. The U: drive and academic T: drive (not Trinity) will no longer be available after the end of this semester. All staff and faculty must move all data from these drives to Google drive as soon as possible.

If you don't have time to do this yourself, ITS will move your data for you over the winter break.

There are a number of benefits to this move:

  • you will have virtually unlimited storage
  • your data is continuously backed up
  • you can access it from anywhere on any platform (no VPN required)
  • files created when you're offline are automatically synchronized next time you connect.

You'll find more information on the ITS website, along with videos to help you get acclimated to the Google approach to file storage.

Once you've got the hang of Google Drive, you'll find it's a more convenient and effective way to store your data, especially if you do a significant amount of work remotely.
