Michael Fisher Appointed Interim Associate Vice President for Facilities Management

October 13, 2020

Dear Campus Community,

The Division of Administrative Affairs is undergoing a reorganization in a number of MBU’s. As we make progress, we will provide updates to the division, university senate, and campus.

We are restoring the Associate Vice President (AVP) for Facilities Management. Michael Fisher has been appointed as Interim AVP for Facilities Management effective September 28.

I am excited to have Michael to provide leadership at such a pivotal moment. Michael has proven to be an outstanding leader on campus, in the CSU, and the Humboldt community. He has a reputation for excellence and collaboration.

Michael will be responsible overseeing all units in Facilities Management with a budget of approximately $11 million and a staff of 90.

Michael has been an employee with HSU for the past 16 years.  He started as a maintenance mechanic in Housing and Dining in 2004.  In 2007, he became the project manager for Construction Management.  In 2010, he was appointed as the Associate Director of Planning & Design for Facilities Maintenance. Michael has been the Director of Planning, Design & Construction since 2013.  In this role, he grew the five-year capital outlay plan from $50 million to over $363 million which better positions the University to gain funding from the office of the Chancellor.

Michael earned two bachelor's degrees and a master’s degree from HSU.

Please join me in welcoming Michael  to the Interim AVP position in the Facilities Management role.

Sincerely,

Sherie Cornish Gordon
Chief of Staff & Interim Vice President for Administration & Finance
