Lumberjack Trio of Silveira, Tovani and Gallardo Named to 2021 United Soccer Coaches All-Region Team
KANSAS CITY, Mo.--- As announced this morning, three members of the 2021 Humboldt State Men’s Soccer Team were named to the 2021 Untied Soccer Coaches All-West Region Team in Marco Silveira, Dylan Tovani and Adrian Gallardo. Silveira was a First Team Honoree while Tovani and Gallardo were Third Team Selections.
This is the third post-season honor for Silveira this season. Last month, Silveira was a First Team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) selection as well as being named to the D2SIDA All-West Region Second Team. Silveira led HSU with his seven goals, ten assists and 24 points. The two-time CCAA Player of the Week honoree recorded a team leading four game-winning goals.
Silveira finished his career with 14 goals scored and 24 assists. His 24 assists place him second on HSU's all-time assists top ten and his 15 goals ties him for 11th. His ten assists are fifth on Humboldt State's single season assists' list.
Tovani was named to the Third Team All-West Region. This is the second post-season award for Tovani as in November he was selected to the All-CCAA Second Team. The junior defender scored three goals this season and assisted on two goals while recording two-game-winning goals. He played a key role in the Lumberjacks’ defense allowing just 0.829 goals a game this past season.
Gallardo also was a Third Team All-West Region honoree. Just like Tovani last month, Gallardo was named to the All-CCAA Second Team. He is one of three freshmen named to the All-West Region Team. This past season, he started in 16 of the Lumberjacks’ 17 matches in goal while posting a 0.85 goals against average with seven shutouts and a .829 saves percentage. Gallardo broke the school single season record with his 0.85 goals against average while his seven shutouts is second on the all-time single season list.
Humboldt State, under the guidance of head coach Fred Jungemann, finished the 2021 season with a 10-5-2 overall record including a 4-5-2 CCAA record. The ten wins was the most since 2006 when the 'Jacks finished with a 11-6-3 record. The five losses were the fewest by a Lumberjack men's soccer team since 2000 when the 'Jacks went 11-5-3. Earlier this season, HSU was ranked as high as No. 13 in the United Soccer Coaches/NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Rankings.
