Lumberjack Men’s Basketball Announces The Signing of Transfer Brandon Recek

ARCATA, Calif.---  Humboldt State head men’s basketball coach Tae Norwood has announced the signing of transfer Brandon Recek who is transferring from Northwest Nazarene University where he was a member of the Nighthawks’ Men’s Basketball Team this past season. 

“We are excited to welcome Brandon to Lumberjack Nation,” said Norwood.  “His combination of size and length is a perfect fit for our up-tempo style of play. His ability to shoot the basketball and score in transition will provide added depth to the backcourt.”

Recek is a 6-6 wing/guard from Northwest Nazarene University, where he was a member of the Nighthawks’ men’s basketball team that played in the 2020-21 NCAA Division II West Regional Championship game.  He played in 11 games this past season while scoring 60 points and shooting 45% from three-point range. 

Prior to Northwest Nazarene, Recek played for two seasons at Yuba College.  During his freshman season, the Fresno, Calif., native averaged 15 points and four rebounds per game while earning All-League honors.  He had season high of 30 points and scored 25 points or more six times during his first season of collegiate ball.

In his sophomore season at Yuba College, Recek averaged 13.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.  He shot 44% from the field including 46% from three-point range.  Recek shot 84% from the charity stripe.  He scored a career high 33 points in the state junior college play-offs.  He scored 20-points or more five times during his sophomore season while earning First Team All-League honors.  Recek was named to the All-State First Team and ranked third best three-point shooter in the state.

 He graduated from Clovis East High School in Fresno, Calif., in 2018.  While at Clovis East, Receek was the league’s Most Valuable Player and earned All-State honors.  He was a member of the Honor Roll at Clovis East HS.
