Leadership Change in Enrollment Management

April 22, 2022

Jason Meriwether, who has provided strong and innovative leadership in the Division of Enrollment Management since 2019, is stepping down from his position at the end of the semester.

In addition to his professional endeavors, Dr. Meriwether and his family wish to live closer to their college-age children and other family members in the southern portion of the country.

Dr. Meriwether’s leadership has been vital as the University responded to the pandemic over the last two years, as well as in efforts related to polytechnic and the state’s historic investment in the institution.

Dr. Meriwether has been instrumental in the success of numerous campus initiatives during his time at Humboldt. His leadership and expertise have led to a turnaround in the enrollment declines that the University was experiencing, with enrollment this Spring now at 103% of projections. He has also led a reimagining of student life, with major changes in Housing, Dining, and the Gutswurrak Student Activities Center. There has been significant investment in the cultural centers, and an increase in collaboration between the division and academic areas. He has significantly enhanced community connections through efforts with K-12 schools, community colleges, and other important partners. His focus throughout has been on reducing costs for students, increasing student success, and creating a more positive student experience.

Information on interim leadership and on permanently filling the vacancy for the Vice President for Enrollment Management will be provided at a later date.
