Kacie Flynn Named Permanent Executive Director of HSU’s Sponsored Programs Foundation

May 21, 2021

Dear Colleagues,

I am very pleased to announce that Mrs. Kacie Flynn will serve as Humboldt State University’s permanent Executive Director of HSU’s Sponsored Programs Foundation. Kacie Flynn joined Humboldt State University Sponsored Programs Foundation in 2010 and has served in a number of roles, most recently as the Interim Executive Director. For the past three years, Kacie has been responsible for overseeing the auxiliary operations and staff, serving as HSU's representative with the Chief Campus Research Officers (CCRO), the Agriculture Research Institute (ARI), along with chairing the Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity (RSCA) annual competition.

Kacie has been instrumental in growing the research foundation such that it is now seen as a successful model for the CSU, with an award portfolio exceeding $100 million. Her focus on building a strong customer service organization enabled HSU to increase the number of submitted proposals to a wide range of research, scholarly, and creative opportunities. Throughout her time at HSU, Kacie has been a champion of faculty and student scholarship and funded research. Her leadership at HSU SPF has impacted numerous faculty and countless students and we’re excited to have her continue in this role in a permanent capacity.

An HSU alumna, Kacie has earned the designation of Certified Research Administrator (CRA) from the Research Administrators Certification Council, and is currently pursuing her Masters of Science in Research Administration from Johns Hopkins University.

“This last decade has been an amazing time for research, scholarship, and creative activities for Humboldt, and I’m so proud to have been a part of that," says Flynn. "With the Polytechnic designation on the horizon, I’m looking forward to leading the HSU research community into this next exciting chapter.”

Please join me in welcoming Kacie to this permanent role. I look forward to the continued success and growth of SPF under Kacie’s leadership.

Sincerely,

Jenn Capps

Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs
