The Office of Research & Sponsored Programs Foundation is pleased to invite you to Cal Poly Humboldt's 2026 McCrone Award Reception! The McCrone award recognizes Humboldt’s junior faculty, acknowledges their potential in their field of research, and encourages their continued achievement. In addition, the Alistair and Judith McCrone Graduate Fellowship Award is given to one Cal Poly Humboldt graduate student to support their research.

2026 Awardees:

• Stefanie Israel de Souza (Sociology) - "Expiration Date: The Broken Promises of Rio de Janeiro's Favela Pacification Initiative"

• Dr. Rachael Wade (Biological Sciences) - "Cracking the Stacks: Exploring Herbarium Collections to Clarify Seaweed Diversity and Evolution"

• Dr. Gabi Kirk (Geography) - "Cultivating Sustainable Sovereignty: Palestinian Agrarian Lives in Transnational Focus"

• Risa Ogushi (Biology Student) - "Examining the Life Cycle Dynamics of a Calcified Seaweed in Northern California."
