Important Changes to Essential Facilities Management Services

September 8, 2020

Facilities Management is making the following changes to essential services supporting our students, staff, and faculty during the Fall 2020 semester, effective Tuesday September 8, 2020:

Parking Regulations: HSU parking meter fees are waived and parking permits are not required on campus through December 31. All  other regulations are in effect 24 hours a day, every day of the year--this includes Service & Yellow Loading Zones, Disabled & Reserved stalls, and Fire Lanes. Please note that the City of Arcata meters along Granite, 14th, and Union streets are not controlled by HSU and therefore not included in this Fall 2020 waiver.

Parking Kiosk and Paycheck Pickup: The Parking Kiosk will be closed Fall 2020, and used only by the Cashiers Office to distribute checks on paydays between 10am and 2pm. Paydays typically fall near the 15th and 30th of the month. See your Green & Gold calendar for more payday information.

Facilities Management Front Office: The Facilities Management front office is now open for the Fall Semester, M-Th 10am-2pm. F, 12:30-4:30.  Please take advantage of our new "walk-up" window at the front office. In addition, the FM Work Control Team continues to answer phones and respond to work requests online from 8am-4:30pm M-F.

Keycards: New and replacement keys/keycards can now be picked up from FM front office walk-up window during open office hours (see above). When keys/keycards are ready for pickup from the walk-up window, the future key holder will get an email with pickup instructions. Be sure to bring your HSU-issued ID card when you pick up your keys.

Mail Pickup: Department mail will continue to be bundled by College or Major Business Unit (MBU). Mail is now available for group-pickup by MBU/College from the Facilities Management front-desk walk-up window during open office hours. If you'd like to see if there is anything to pickup, please call ahead to shipping and receiving x3932.

Hand Sanitizer/Sanitizing Wipes: All open/occupied buildings should be properly supplied with hand sanitizer (look for touchless dispensers in open buildings and pump sanitizers in occupied offices) and sanitizing wipes (look for 3-gallon blue painter buckets with the "wipes" sticker on top).

If there is additional need for hand sanitizer or sanitizing wipes in your building, please put in a work request and we will deliver within 24 hours when at all possible. Remember, if you already have hand sanitizer pumps and they run out, let us know and we will bring you refills. Be sure to indicate if your request is for a refill or a new supply in your work order.

Work Requests: For additional custodial needs, please notify Facilities Management right away with a work request, or Liz Whitchurch, Director of Operations, at elizabeth.whitchurch@humboldt.edu. Custodial cleaning strategies have been augmented/adjusted for buildings with planned occupants, but feedback is always welcome.

Any requests for engineering related to COVID-19 (like plexiglass shield installation) need to be confirmed with EH&S and then submitted to FM as a work order. Be sure to note that this is a need that has a time deadline when you submit your request.
