Humboldt State Women’s Basketball to Participate in “A Race for Change”

October 1, 2020

Humboldt State Women’s Basketball joins other Universities in an event called A Race for Change. This event is being organized to create sustainable change on our campus’, in our communities, country and our world. Join us on October 15th-18th for a virtual 5k run, walk, or bike ride to make progress on racial justice. All proceeds will be going to our African American Center for Academic Excellence on campus to help address issues around racial and social injustice. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated. Please join HSU women’s basketball in a Race for Change.

"We are definitely excited to join in Race For Change,” said Humboldt State head women’s basketball coach Michelle Bento-Jackson.  “I have been very proud of our team in wanting to take a lead around issues of racial equality. We want to keep the conversations going and be active in doing what we can in the fight to combat racism. Working toward progress in racial justice is extremely important to our women's basketball program and one that we are passionate about.  The wish is that this event continues to bring awareness and promote justice not only locally but throughout many communities. We recognize there is a real problem in our society and we want to do our part in creating change. We want to thank UC San Diego for starting this initiative and we hope many others join in across the country."
