The awards keep piling on for Humboldt State University’s utility player Izzy Starr.  Yesterday afternoon as announced by the D2 Conference Commissioner’s Association (D2CCA), Starr was named to the D2CCA All-West Region Team as voted on by the region’s Sports Information Directors.  Last week, Starr was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II All-West Region Team. 

 Earlier this month, Starr was named to the 2021 Schutt Sports/NFCA DII Player and Pitcher of the Year Top 30 list.  She was one of thirty student-athletes that have been selected as finalists for this prestigious honor. The winners will be announced sometime next week as will be the All-American Teams of the D2CCA and NFCA.

 This past season, Starr led the Lumberjacks with her .468 batting average, six home runs, 45 total bases and .957 slugging percentage.  She tied for the team lead with 22 hits with Micaela Harris. The Lumberjack sophomore started in all 14 games for HSU while scoring 13 times, posting a .468 on-base percentage with three doubles and one triple. 

 During the season, Starr had an eight-game hitting streak while hitting reaching base safely in 11 of the Lumberjacks’ 14 games.  She only had one strikeout in 47 at bats.  On April 10 at Central Washington, Starr went four-for-four with four runs scored.  The week before at Saint Martin’s on April 6, Starr went three-for-four with four runs batted in, scoring two runs and hitting two home runs.
