April 22, 2021

Both of the Humboldt State men’s and women’s track and field teams will begin a week-long road trip this Friday-Saturday, April 23-24, when the Lumberjacks participate in the two-day Raider Invitational on the campus of Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Ore.  After this weekend, the Lumberjacks will travel north to Salem, Ore., on April 29 for a dual with Willamette University.  Humboldt State will finish off its travel in the two-day Oregon State University High Performance Meet on April 30-May 1 in Corvallis, Ore.

“We are very excited to get back on the road and back to competition this week,” said head coach Sarah Ingram.  “We have been working hard in practices and we feel more prepared with more weeks of training under our belt for this trip. Nearing the end of the semester, we’re really aiming to maintain our focus on our academics, and we have many study halls planned throughout our 9 days on the road. It’s been such a crazy year for everybody, but we’re still full of gratitude and thrilled to have this opportunity. We’re hoping to make it count!”

  • Consultation with Humboldt County Public Health officials
  • Frequent testing — teams in competition will be tested three times a week
  • Small group practices
  • Wearing face coverings on campus and on the road
  • Travel-related quarantines

Each team will be on the road for multiple games over the course of one to three weeks. None of the games are part of regular conference competition, which is not occurring this year.
