Humboldt State’s Marco Silveira Named to D2CCA All-West Region Men’s Soccer Team

November 23, 2021

As announced this morning, Humboldt State men’s soccer player Marco Silveira has been named to the 2021 Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association (D2CCA) Men’s Soccer All-West Region Team.  Silveira was a Second Team honoree as voted on by the sports information directors in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) and PacWest Conferences.

Earlier this month, Silveira was named to the 2021 First Team All-CCAA Men’s Soccer Team.  The senior forward scored seven goals and recorded ten assists for 24 points.  Silveira had four game-winning goals  He led the 'Jacks in all three categories.

This was Silveira's first time being selected to the D2CCA All-West Region Team along with the All-CCAA First Team.  Twice during this season, the Salvador, Brazil, native was named the CCAA Men's Soccer Player of the Week.

Heading into next week’s NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer Championship Quarterfinal matches, Silveira leads the CCAA with his 10 assists while he is tied for the conference lead with his four game-winning goals.  He is third in points per game (1.41) and tied for fourth with his 24 points.  In the most recent NCAA Division II statistical report, Silveira is 10th in assists (ten), 11th in assists per game (0.59) and 22nd in game-winning goals (four).

Silveira finished his career with 14 goals scored and 24 assists.  His 24 assists place him second on HSU’s all-time assists top ten and his 15 goals ties him for 11th.  His ten assists are fifth on Humboldt State’s single season assists’ list.

Humboldt State, under the guidance of head coach Fred Jungemann, finished the 2021 season with a 10-5-2 overall record including a 4-5-2 CCAA record. The ten wins was the most since 2006 when the 'Jacks finished with a 11-6-3 record.  The five losses were the fewest by a Lumberjack men's soccer team since 2000 when the 'Jacks went 11-5-3.  Earlier this season, HSU was ranked as high as No. 13 in the United Soccer Coaches/NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Rankings.

Five other Lumberjacks joined Silveira on the All-CCAA Team, the most ever since the Lumberjacks joined the conference in 2002.  Joining Silveira on the All-CCAA Team were Second Team honorees Dylan Tovani and Adrian Gallardo along with Honorable Mention selections Christian Gonzalez, Devin Hauenstein and Motoki Sato.

The last Lumberjack to be named to the D2CCA Team was current assistant coach Isaiah Dairo, who was named to the 2019 D2CCA All-West Region Second Team.

The Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
