Humboldt State’s Julia Iman Named CCAA Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

As announced by the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) office this morning, Humboldt State junior guard Julia Iman has been named the CCAA Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of November 29-December 5.  Iman led the ‘Jacks to a 2-0 record in the opening week of conference play with victories over SF State and Cal State Monterey Bay.

 Iman averaged 22.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 3.0 steals and 1.5 blocked shots per game in the Lumberjacks’ two wins at home.  She shot 53.8% from the field and connected on two of her attempts from beyond the arc and made one of her free throw attempts. 

 The Canyon Lake, Calif., native started the week scoring 21 points, grabbing seven rebounds, blocking two shots and recording four steals in HSU’s 58-56 victory over SF State on Thursday in its conference opener.  Iman finished the week recording her second double-double of the season by scoring a season high 24 points and grabbing 11 rebounds (all defensive) in the Lumberjacks’ 65-59 win over Cal State Monterey Bay.  She also dished out six assists, recorded two steals and blocked a shot in the win for the ‘Jacks.

 For the season, Iman is averaging 14.2 points and 9.0 rebounds per game while shooting 46.3% from the field.  She has made five of her attempts from beyond the arc.  Iman has dished out 18 assists and recorded a team leading 12 steals while blocking three shots. 

 Humboldt State (3-3, 2-0 CCAA) will begin a three-game road trip this Thursday, December 11 with a 5:30pm scheduled conference game with Stanislaus State in Turlock, Calif.
