LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Humboldt State softball took the No. 1 spot in this week’s National Fastpitch Coaches Association Top 25 released Wednesday morning.

“This is a great place for us to be right now,” said Head Coach Shelli Sarchett. “What it means is that we just have to work that much harder and play that much better because the target is on our back, but we wouldn't have it any other way.”

The Lumberjacks are off to a 5-0 start after traveling to Las Vegas for the Desert Stinger Tournament. HSU holds the top spot for the first time since the 2014 Week 1 poll (Feb. 19).

A weekend trip to Hayward, Calif., for a series with Cal State East Bay has been postponed due to inclement weather.
