How to be Notified of Campus Emergencies

April 2, 2024

In recognition of California’s annual Tsunami Preparedness Week, Cal Poly Humboldt conducted an emergency text notification system communications test on March 27th at 10 AM PST.

This text was the only communication sent to campus personnel currently opted in to the emergency text notification system. Additional county alerts and tsunami sirens were tested across Humboldt, Del Norte, and Mendocino counties from 11 AM to Noon. If you received the text, you are successfully opted-in. If you did NOT receive a text notification and would like to receive campus emergency notifications via text, please go through the following instructions to confirm your preferred number is in the system:

Step 1) Log into your MyHumboldt account using the new Duo Authentication system.

Step 2) Scroll down on the home page until you see the header “My profile”. Under this header, there will be a drop down menu titled “Emergency Contact(s)”. Click on “Emergency Contact(s)” to see a drop down list of current emergency contacts and your emergency text message number listed at the bottom. If there is no emergency text message number on file, it will show an alert icon for a number to be added.

Step 3) Click on “Update Emergency Text Message Number” to be taken to the Phone Numbers page. Confirm that the correct number is recorded in the Emergency Text Message Number box and be sure to click save (a confirmation page will appear when it is successfully saved). And that’s it!
