Hot Food Catering Requirements
Due to state fire marshal requirements, the use of sternos and open flame devices are no longer permitted on campus for indoor spaces. All caterers, including offsite caterers, cannot use sterno type products or open flame devices for heating hot food.
For outside catered events, a State Fire Marshal permit is required for the use of sternos or open flame heating equipment.
Our own campus catering, Humboldt Dining, has moved to alternate options for indoor heated catering. This includes heating packets as well as electric heaters.
Please ensure if you are working with an outside caterer that you notify them of this policy.
