Hollingsworth Named CCAA Softball Player of the Week

March 29, 2016

SAN RAMON, Calif. – Humboldt State junior second baseman Tiffany Hollingsworth was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week for the second time this season Tuesday.

The Lumberjacks have earned CCAA weekly honors five times, and Hollingsworth joins pitcher Madison Williams as the only two-time HSU recipient. The San Leandro, Calif., native previously earned the award for the week of Feb. 8-14.

Hollingsworth powered the Green and Gold to a weekend sweep of Cal State Dominguez Hills. She drove in a conference-best 11 runs, batted .818, hit a pair of home runs and compiled a 1.545 slugging percentage. Hollingsworth went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and drove in two runs in the series opener. She went 2-for-2 in the late game Friday, hit a home run and plated three HSU runs. The junior was 1-for-2 in the third game of the series and drove in her sixth RBI of the weekend. Hollingsworth took her game to the next level in the series finale and went 3-for-3 at the plate, hit a grand slam and added five more RBI.

“Tiffany is really swinging the bat well right now and is really coming through in the clutch,” said Head Coach Shelli Sarchett.

HSU travels to face UC San Diego in a doubleheader on Thursday, March 31, at Rainbow Fields in Modesto, Calif. The Jacks take part in the annual Tournament of Champions at Pedretti Sports Complex in Turlock, Calif., beginning Friday, April 1.
