Holland, Williams Collect CCAA Weekly Softball Honors

SAN RAMON, Calif. – No. 4-ranked Humboldt State softball improved to 15-1 in California Collegiate Athletic Association action last week, and the Lumberjacks swept weekly conference honors. Junior pitcher Madison Williams earned Pitcher of the Week accolades for the second time this season and sophomore outfielder Hanna Holland was tabbed the Player of the Week.

Williams improved to 10-0 with four wins in four starts last week. She compiled a 1.75 ERA and struck out 40 batters in 32.0 innings pitched. Williams logged 18.0 innings versus No. 23-ranked Chico State, allowed just three earned runs and recorded 18 punchouts. Williams dominated Cal State San Bernardino and had one of her best performances of the season. In game two of the series she logged a complete game shutout and struck out 14, two shy of her career-best. The Brentwood, Calif., native wrapped the series with a complete-game win and fanned eight en route to her team-leading 10th victory.

Holland batted .560 and extended her reached base streak to a conference-best 26 games last week. She hit her first home run of the season and finished with three RBI. The Oakdale, Calif., product swiped six bases and notched five hits in the Jacks series victory over Chico State. She went 6-for-11 at the plate and swatted her first long ball of the season against Cal State San Bernardino. Holland recorded three put outs and had a 1.000 fielding percentage.

The Jacks travel to face Cal State Dominguez Hills in a four-game series that begins Friday, March 25. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
