Hanna Holland Swipes CCAA Player of the Week Honors

April 6, 2016

SAN RAMON, Calif. – Sophomore outfielder Hanna Holland was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week for the second time this season Tuesday.

“Hanna had another strong weekend,” said Head Coach Shelli Sarchett. “She is really helping set the tone for our offense and making things happen with her stick as well as her running.”

Holland rounded out arguably the best week of her Lumberjack career with Tournament of Champions MVP honors. The sophomore batted a team-best .625, drove in 11 runs and stole 19 bases in 19 attempts as the Green and Gold finished the week with a 7-1 record and HSU’s third straight Tournament title.  She extended her conference-leading streak of consecutive games reaching base safely to 38 games, and is riding a CCAA-best, 26-game hitting streak. Holland doubled the previous Tournament of Champions individual record with 16 stolen bases, a record that stood for five seasons. The Oakdale product hit .652 as the Jacks finished the event with a 6-0 mark.

She ranks 10th nationally with a .474 batting average and second in the nation with 1.37 stolen bases per game.

HSU returns to action Friday and Saturday with a four-game series versus Stanislaus State. The series opens with a doubleheader Friday, April 8 at 1 p.m.
