Peace community! Mo here with the lowdown on all the fun the Black and Brown community has planned for June 2026 in celebration of Juneteenth, Oysterfest & Pride!

We have a packed calendar of workshops, festivals, markets, and parties you won't want to miss.

Saturday, June 13 | Bling Block at Oysterfest
Join us at the Arcata Plaza for Oysterfest 2026, where we will host activities for all ages, including sensory play, obstacle courses, and a game zone! We will have local Black makers and restaurants vending, plus a Beer & Wine booth where all tips will be donated to Black Humboldt in celebration of Juneteenth. Don’t miss DJ sets from Gabe Pressure and karaoke sign-ups from 2 PM - 5 PM!

Wednesday June 17th | Juneteenth Speaker Series, Herb Workshop & Community Screening
We begin our Juneteenth week by grounding in history, foodways, and remembrance. At 10 AM on Zoom, join us for “Uplifting the Legacy of The Black Panther Party” with Dr. Ned. At 4 PM, the community is invited to “Seeds of the Diaspora,” a guided tasting experience at D Street Neighborhood Center in Arcata that connects African diasporic herbs, spices, healing traditions, and ancestral resilience. We close the evening at 6 PM with a community screening of "Reconstruction: America After the Civil War" at Minor Theater, honoring the stories of Black freedom-building after emancipation.

Thursday, June 18 | Juneteenth Speaker Series & Adult Skate Night @ Blue Lake Skating Rink
Start the day with our Juneteenth Speaker Series at 10 AM on Zoom for “Exploring the State of Black Mental Health” with Thomas Lee. Then lace up and roll into joy at Adult Skate Night with DJ Professor Funk at Blue Lake Skating Rink at 6 PM. Come move, laugh, vibe, and celebrate Black wellness through rhythm, community, and play.

Friday, June 19 | Juneteenth Speaker Series, Friday Night Market Takeover & All Ages Punk Show
On Juneteenth Day, we honor ancestors, resistance, and living Black culture. At 10 AM on Zoom, join the BH Hub for “What is Juneteenth? What is lineage?” Then meet us at 5:30 PM in Old Town Eureka for the Friday Night Market Juneteenth Takeover, featuring community, vendors, food, music, and celebration. We’ll close the night with an All Ages Punk Show at 7 PM at Savage Henry Comedy Club.

Saturday, June 20 | Juneteenth Day Festival & Black Burlesque Official Juneteenth After Party | Workshops 
Join us at Halvorsen Park in Eureka at 12 PM for the Juneteenth Day Festival, a full community celebration with music, food, vendors, art, family activities, cultural programming, and Black joy blooming all over the waterfront. After the festival, the celebration continues at Country Cowgirls, the official 21+ Juneteenth after party at Richard’s Goat inside the Miniplex. Expect burlesque, karaoke, line dancing, and performances from Clair Fuxabull, Karma, Miss Teri, Mx. Tigrizz, and Sirena-Mami Watu. Bar opens at 8 PM, doors at 9 PM, and the show starts at 9:30 PM.

Sunday June 21st | Black Ball & Brunch - Drag Brunch @ Synapsis, Eureka
Close out Juneteenth weekend with us at Black Ball & Brunch, a drag brunch celebration at Synapsis in Eureka at 11 AM. Come dressed for joy, community, and a little Sunday sparkle as we gather for food, performances, Pride month energy, and one final toast to the past we honor and the future we are seeding together."
