Four Humboldt State Rugby Student-Athletes Named to Pacific Coast Grizzly All-Star Team

HOUSTON, Texas--- Four members of the 2021-22 Humboldt State Lumberjacks’ Men’s Rugby Team have been selected to play in the National Collegiate Ruby All Star Shield Challenge this Saturday-Sunday, January 15-16 at AVEVA Stadium in Houston, Texas.  AVEVA Stadium is home to the Houston Sabercats, Major League Rugby Team.

 “I and the coaching staff are very proud of these players for being selected to compete on the Pacific Coast Grizzly All-Star team,” said head rugby coach Greg Pargee.  “Each of these student athletes have put in the hard work on and off the field and deserve the recognition and opportunity. They are very excited to play rugby with and against some of the best athletes in the nation and represent HSU in Houston.”

 Isaac Khelo, Logan McDaniel and Dante Cappellano have been selected to the Pacific Coast Grizzly All-Star Team with Adrian Magana as an alternate.

 Eight different regional All-Star teams from across the nation will compete in the National Collegiate Rugby All Star Shield Challenge.  This unique All-Star event includes the best  players from across all men’s divisions including Division I, Division II and Small College.  Over 300 players representing 100 schools, were selected based on regional tryouts and coach nominations.
